In our second installment of our Dream Room Scene Renovation Project, we’re taking you into the design process, meeting all the needs of the functional en suite bathroom, in Patty’s home.
As we set out to complete our first of many employee home renovations, we wanted to focus on addressing customer needs, concerns and dispelling some common tile design myths. Creating a luxury feel without overwhelming the space for the homeowner was key and accomplished through the use of the 1920’s inspired Park Place Collection.
Some desired “must-haves” were:
- Having the feeling of grandeur every morning
- Making the space feel larger without adding square footage
- Sophisticated Farmhouse look
Our in-house Jeffrey Court design team and Patty sat down to talk about how best to accomplish all her “must-haves, with the offerings within the recently refreshed Empire State inspired collection in Chapter 16.
Black and white tiled accents in the natural stones featured included Nero Marquina, which helped to create a grand entrance into this en suite bathroom. Using the Terrace on the Park mosaic on the floor, creatd long lines making the space appear larger, which includes no grout lines to ensure it didn’t look too busy to overwhelm anyone.
“A common misconception with tile design, is that using mosaics on the floor will look too busy, but in reality, it’s perfect to open up a space and is broken up by the furniture and decorative accents that polish off a space,” said a Jeffrey Court design team member.
Opening up the shower to feature a waterfall bench surrounded by open glass added to the overall look of being more open, again without adding square feet. The large shower features three tiles from the Park Place collection, seamlessly brought together by installing the 3” x 6” Wall Street White natural stone filed tile on both the shower walls and bench. For a little pop to feature Patty’s sophisticated style, the Madison Mosaic in Brooklyn Marquina was used in the four niches.

Tying the design together are a few key pieces to creating the sophisticated farmhouse look Patty wanted. With a wooden dual-sink vanity and curved edge mirrors the en suite was complete.
