The anticipation is finally over. And it’s official, the 2018 Pantone Color of the Year is Ultra Violet. You may be asking yourself “Why?” or “How can I make Ultra Violet work in the real world outside of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory?” We have a few insights to share with you to hone in on the heart behind why Ultra Violet is the color of choice this year and how you can use it without overwhelming your clients with this bold and mystical color.

Color has a powerful way of conveying meaningful messages. For designers, the goal is to use color to influence and inspire within any space. In a nutshell, Ultra Violet communicates originality, mystery and visionary thinking that points toward the future.

Culturally speaking, deep purples have symbolized a lifestyle that is a little more on the unconventional side; pushing creative boundaries into artistic brilliance. Purple rain, anyone!

The VP of the Pantone Color Institute said it best, “The Pantone Color of the Year has come to mean so much more than ‘what’s trending’ in the world of design; it’s truly a reflection of what’s needed in our world today.”

Ultra Violet has a multi-dimensional feel that can add vibrancy to an array of areas in our lives. From design, to fashion, to beauty and home decor. It offers a luxurious experience when paired with metallics or golds; when paired with greens or greys, it offers more elegance.

Whether you’re keen on Prince or not, that’s okay. There’s a variety of ways to use this intense color in a softer manner; if you are looking to add a splash of Ultra Violet as an accent wall, pillows for your couch, candle holders for your coffee table or a piece of art on the wall, Ultra Violet can add that pizazz of originality that is hard to obtain with other colors.

Throw in an Ultra Violet, velvet couch and it’s like a royal party in your living room!

At Jeffrey Court, we love working with trending styles, colors and designs that will compliment our tiles.
